Niksic

Niksic is known as the home of beer and steel. It is Montenegro’s second-largest city. Once the largest city of former Yugoslavia, this was an important industrial center.   Moreover educational, and cultural center. Local industries range from steel to beer manufacturing. The University of Montenegro can also be found in Niksic. It has produced many famous Montenegrins(amoung the others founder of Montenegro Private tours 🙂 ).

Local attractions in place include the old town walls, an ancient Roman stone bridge, and King Nikola’s palace. The Zupa and Ostrog Monasteries are also popular destinations amongst tourists. Nature and sport lovers will also enjoy the many beautiful parks and public spaces of this town. That includes Vucije Winter Sports Center and Lake Krupak beach.

This is the town with the strong cultural roots. The most famous music festival in the country is held here, and town was always recognised as a centre of Rock music scene within the country. When we speak about the culture in the town, we have to mention that many poets, writers and film directors lived and worked in this town. 

Finally this is a birth place of some of the most notable Montenegrins including our most famous film director Zivko Nikolic, poet – Vito Nikolic and songwriter Miladin Sobic and place where Djokovic is originally from.
